January 2021 – Roundup from the Carmarthenshire Green Party

Monthly Roundup – January 2021.

We want a 2021 full of kindness, cooperation and tolerance. The Carmarthenshire Green Party promotes the policies of ecological sustainability, a fairer more stable economy and a more equal society. You can become a Friend of the Green Party or a full member and help us to make a better tomorrow.

Here is a roundup of everything we have been up to in January 2021.

The newly formed committee meet every month and we always provide a blog post summary of the meetings. You can read the minutes from the meeting on 7 January 2021 on the link below.

ALL MEMBERS MEETING

Our Members Secretary sent out email invitations to our first All Members meeting to be held on Thursday 18 February via Zoom. An email about the meeting was sent out on 17 Jan 2021 via Action Network to all local Members and registered Supporters. We didn’t get any bounced back but please check your spam boxes if you have missed it. A reminder and agenda will be sent out by 4 February 2021 and there will be a blog post summary of the meeting for anyone not able to attend.

SENEDD ELECTIONS

As a party we are also looking forward to the Senedd Elections due to be held on 6 May 2021. More details will be announced on our social media channels as soon as we have them. You can follow the Carmarthenshire Green Party on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

CLIMATE EMERGENCY

2020 saw the joint highest temperatures on record, more wildfires in the Arctic, and a record 29 tropical storms in the Atlantic. The climate crisis continues unabated and the Carmarthenshire Green Party alongside The Green Party of England and Wales will continue to stand up for the climate emergency.

YOUNG GREENS

The Young Greens hosted a four-part lecture series to explore vital questions on why capitalism is broken and how we overthrow it and provide you with a foundational understanding of how our society has been organised over the last four decades, why this is, how it is flawed, and how we can resist it. The lectures covered.

  • Neoliberalism, privatisation and austerity.
  • The changing state of democracy in the UK.
  • People power! How we change the world when we work together.
  • Bringing it all together – envisioning a radically just and transformed society.

SPRING CONFERENCE

The Green Party Spring Conference has now been confirmed and will be held between 1-7 March 2021. Registrations for the conference are open and you will find more information on the members’ website here.

Some of the issues that we will be fighting for this year are:

💚 There is no environmental justice without racial justice.

💚 We need a Green New Deal now.

💚 Carbon neutrality within 2030 is non-negotiable.

💚 Our economy must work for people, not people working for the economy.

💚 We must cooperate across party political lines.

Whoever you are, whatever you stand for, be that. And be Green too. Get involved and join the Green Party today to help fight for a greener tomorrow.
